Simply Consistent IN Purpose

Simply Consistent IN Purpose

Consistency—it’s a word that hit me hard recently, especially after watching a video that challenged my understanding of it. For so long, I struggled with consistency. In some ways, I still do. But I’m learning that consistency isn’t just about sheer discipline or self-control; it’s about purpose. When we truly understand our purpose in God, consistency flows naturally because we’re moving from a place of alignment.

Our ultimate purpose is to serve God in everything we do. Beyond that, He has equipped each of us with unique gifts and placed us in specific roles to fulfill a certain purpose. None of our gifts are identical; each one is uniquely crafted and connected to specific people, places, or changes God wants to bring about in this world. Our gifts and roles may look similar on the surface, but they are designed with a unique impact in mind, something only we can carry out.

When we live with purpose, consistency becomes more than just a habit—it’s an intentional response. But often, we make the mistake of forcing ourselves to be consistent in things that aren’t aligned with our purpose. This can feel exhausting, making us question our motivation or even see it as a personal flaw. Yet, what if the reason we struggle with consistency in certain areas is because those areas aren’t truly part of God’s purpose for us?

In a world that pressures us to constantly perform, to fit certain molds, it’s easy to mistake forced effort for genuine alignment. We try to keep up, pushing ourselves into roles or routines that don’t fit the life God designed for us. That’s where the frustration and fatigue come in, because we’re moving out of force, not flow.

Instead, I’m learning to ask God for guidance. “Lord, show me where my inconsistency is a result of my own character flaws or lack of discipline, and where it’s because I’m forcing something that doesn’t align with Your purpose.” It’s a prayer to let God lead, to find peace in His direction, and to distinguish between the things I’m called to and those I’m not.

I want to live from a place of flow, not force. When I’m led by the Spirit, there’s a natural rhythm to my actions—a confidence that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. But when I operate from my own desires, passions, or pressure, I end up drifting from God’s will. So, I’m asking Him to lead me even further into a life of true consistency, one that reflects His calling on my life.

Living in purpose, moving with purpose, and making decisions from a place of purpose—it’s all about letting God guide us. Because ultimately, it’s not about us. It’s about the souls connected to our calling, the shifts God wants to make through us.

So, here’s my prayer: “Lord, let me live in the flow of Your Spirit, step into each day with purpose, and honor the calling You’ve placed on my life. Let my actions serve the souls connected to my purpose. Amen.”

This journey toward consistency is a journey toward living a life of purpose, guided by God. And it’s a journey worth taking.
